Institute of the Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia (ILFA) is one of the leading research institutions in Latvia that is focusing on the study of historical and contemporary processes of Latvian literature, theater and music, traditional culture and oral history, as well as digital humanities and environmental humanities, gender and queer studies, narrative and autobiographical memory studies. As ILFA holds the Archives of Latvian Folklore which is the largest folklore material repository in Latvia, it is also a cultural memory institution, specializing in heritage and archival studies.

Through its research projects and digital resources for humanities and cultural studies, ILFA develops different citizen sciences initiatives pertaining to creative crowdsourcing, knowledge exchange, and collaborative work in the data processing.
