Introduction to the 'Characteristics of Citizen Science' work.

The 'Characteristics of Citizen Science' is a collaborative effort undertaken by citizen science researchers and practitioners from around the globe, with input gathered from more than 200 contributors to a comprehensive survey - in order to capture the views of researchers, practitioners, public officials and the wider public. This work attempts to represent a wide range of opinions in an inclusive way, to allow for different types of projects and programmes, where context-specific criteria can be set.

The explanation notes provide more discussion about how these characteristics were created and what they mean in practice.
