MountainApp is a collaborative project developed by researchers from Switzerland and Georgia, aimed at enhancing students' understanding of sustainable mountain development. The App, created for a transnational research seminar at the University of Zurich and Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, facilitates cross-border student collaboration and learning, with a focus on the Alpine and Caucasus mountain regions.

Through the MountainApp, developed by the SPOTTERON Citizen Science Platform, users can explore landscapes and share data about the places they visit and experience in their everyday lives. The App allows users to document and reflect on their relationships with different types of landscapes and landscape elements, helping researchers understand the values and meanings people attach to these areas. By collecting this data, the App plays a key role in studying the connection between people and mountain environments.

Aim

The aim of the MountainApp is to analyze and document the ways in which individuals interact with and perceive landscapes in mountainous regions. This project is part of a bi-national initiative called "Where Georgie and Switzerland Meet: Sustainable Development in Mountain Areas", supported by the Swiss Leading House for Science & Technology Cooperation and funded by the Swiss Bilateral Cooperation Programme. The data gathered through the App contributes to research on sustainable mountain development and fosters a deeper understanding of the importance of mountain landscapes.
