from 15/03/2019
Landauf, LandApp BW is an interactive Citizen Science project that invites local communities to contribute their knowledge about landmarks and historical buildings in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Developed by LEO BW and the National Archive of Baden-Württemberg, this App provides a platform for citizens to document and share their insights about the region's cultural and historical heritage.
Users of the Landauf, LandApp BW App, developed by the SPOTTERON Citizen Science Platform, can upload photos of landmarks, such as famous castles, historical sites, and hidden gems like wayside crosses and boundary stones. The App allows them to categorize, describe, and geolocate their contributions on an interactive map. In addition, users can engage with each other by liking, commenting and discussing posts, making it a dynamic platform for sharing local history and fostering community interaction.
Aim
The aim of the Landauf, LandApp BW project is to create a comprehensive cultural map of Baden-Württemberg, documenting both well-known and lesser-known sites. By encouraging citizens to participate actively, the App preserves the region's history and integrates user-generated content with state archives. This collaboration enriches the region's historical records and ensures the long-term availability of data for researchers and the public, providing a valuable resource for regional studies and cultural education.
