Walkability, an initiative by the Walk21 Foundation, a UK charity, aims to make walking safer, more accessible, and enjoyable for people of all ages and abilities. The Walkability App allows users to share their walking experiences, providing valuable insights into the accessibility and safety of public spaces.

With the Walkability App, developed by the SPOTTERON Citizen Science Platform, participants can document and report their experiences while walking in different locations. They can highlight areas that are either easy or difficult to walk through, offering feedback on features that impact walkability. The Citizen Science approach encourages individuals to contribute data that will help shape more walkable and pedestrian-friendly urban environments.

Aim

The data collected through the Walkability App will be used to guide improvements in urban planning and infrastructure, helping communities create safer, more accessible walking spaces. The insights gathered will assist local authorities and communities in identifying key areas for development and improving the overall walking experience for everyone, encouraging people to walk more and promoting the health, social, environmental, and economic benefits associated with it.
