BiciZen
from 14/02/2023
Bicizen is a Citizen Science project where participants may provide observations about cycling, public engagement, and urban mobility through a citizen science platform that aids cities in their transition to a low-carbon mobility future and empowers urban cyclists with helpful trip information.
Users can communicate about their cycling experiences and gain knowledge from others. They can discuss issues like where they feel comfortable or content when cycling, where they came across something in their path that should be removed, where more cycling infrastructure would be needed, or even arrange a bicibus to transport cyclists to work or school.
Aim
Through the BiciZen App, developed by the SPOTTERON Citizen Science Platform, citizens who cycle in city regions contribute to a larger dialogue on the future of bicycle infrastructure to make cycling safer and easier. The App also helps them connect with other cyclists.
The data collected on the BiciZen platform will provide a historical record of cycling incidents, events, and commentary that can be consulted by all stakeholders. Anonymized datasets will be shared on the BiciZen website and are open and free to cycling activists, city officials, and researchers.
