The new city models, such as the proximity city or the 15-minute-City, have not listened to all the groups of citizens who inhabit the city. In particular, people with disabilities have been historically excluded from consultation and participation processes for creating cities that are more comfortable for everyone, and especially from newer studies and analyses.

Among them, Flower of Proximity is a tool used to determine the uses that citizens want to have close to home and that can influence neighborhood planning. Currently, the Proximity Flower is used as a craft activity, where participants write by hand the uses they desire near their homes on a drawing of a printed flower. This can create barriers for people with different disabilities, making their needs unaddressed by excluding them from the activity.

This project is developed by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain) together with Asociación PUEDO. It is supported by IMPETUS Accelerator Programme, financed by the European Union.

Aim

The aim of this project is to collect the neccesities and points of view from people with disabilities in the context of cities of proximity. Specifically, it seeks to update the Flower of Proximity so that everyone can participate in the consultation processes with equal conditions, and can see their necessities covered.
