Vigilantes del Suelo

Active

from 01/07/2023 until 30/06/2024

A national project in which citizens collaborate in soil science by assessing the quality of soils in Spain, enhancing their knowledge about such an important natural resource.

It is coordinated by the Ibercivis Foundation and the Centro de Investigación y Tecnología Agroalimentaria de Aragón (CITA), with the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology of the Ministry of Science and Innovation (FECYT).

Aim

Through citizen science campaigns, participants in the Vigilantes del Suelo project will collect soil samples from their local environments and analyze them to assess soil health. The data collected will contribute to the creation of a national map depicting soil health across Spain. Furthermore, these efforts will empower citizens to play an active role in decision-making processes concerning their living environments.
