iMERMAID
from 01/06/2023 until 31/08/2026
iMERMAID (Innovative solutions for Mediterranean Ecosystem Remediation via Monitoring and decontamination from Chemical Pollution) is an EU-funded project with a consortium of 26 partners.
The project is looking for innovative and reproducible strategies in order to monitor and prevent chemical pollution in the Mediterranean Sea. For this, five use cases have been initiated, which are looking at the issue of chemical pollution from different sectors (agriculture, industry, pharma) in different countries (Spain, Italy, Tunisia, Greece, Croatia).
In addition to the use cases, the project also aims at raising awareness on the issue of chemical pollution through social media campaigns and schooling projects.
Aim
Ultimately, iMERMAID strives to create a zero-pollution environment and contaminant-free waters in the Mediterranean Sea basin, aligning with the goals of the Chemical Strategy. By integrating innovative solutions and fostering collaboration, iMERMAID aims to mitigate the impact of human activities on the Mediterranean Sea and promote sustainable practices for the future.
