Action for Rural Women‘s Empowerment is a non-profit, non-government organization working with marginalized groups of people, especially rural women and children in Uganda. Action for Rural Women‘s Empowerment was established in 2003 as a community based organization and later registered as an NGO in 2008. Currently, it operates in the central and north-eastern regions of Uganda, focusing on socio-economic empowerment of women and children. Action for Rural Women‘s Empowerment is a member in several networks including; Participatory Ecological Land Use Management, Uganda Water and Sanitation NGO Network, National Association of Women Organizations in Uganda, Development Network of Indigenous Voluntary Associations, District NGO forums, National NGO Forum and Human Rights Network Uganda. A key goal of Action for Rural Women‘s Empowerment is to partner with organizations and individuals with complementary missions and everything we do seems inter-linked with the efforts of others. We work in an environment of constant change that inspires us to partner with others to achieve more. Our focus is on enhancing community capacity to mitigate and adapt to climate for sustainable change and on empowering women to eliminate any practices inhibiting their social and economic development. Consequently, Action for Rural Women‘s Empowerment is a rural focused organization that strengthens women‘s leadership so that collectively they can break the chains of poverty, patriarchy, class and sexual repression.
