STEP CHANGE: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

Description

This is a Citizen Science Initiative (CSI) on Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in the United Kingdom, which is led by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Oxford Biomedical Research Centre, based at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Oxford, England. This CSI is being conducted in collaboration with the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM), University of Oxford. The CSI is a part of the STEP CHANGE Project, which is a multi-partner and multicountry citizen science project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme (Grant agreement No 101006386).

In this Citizen Science Initiative, members of the public (citizens scientists) will work together with professional researchers to make a meaningful contribution to this translational research study. Citizen scientists will be involved in different project activities such as development/review of data collection tools (e.g. questionnaires and diaries), data collection/analysis, co-writing of research papers and dissemination of the research findings.

Aim

To develop a better understanding of the experiences of patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease taking part in a clinical intervention as well as in a lifestyle and weight loss programme.

How to participate

Participation in the project will be voluntary and free of charge.
