ECS project

With the rapid growth of citizen science, a continuous stream of events, projects, papers, webinars, training, etc. emerges. Do you ever experience a sense of disorientation, much like myself, when trying to stay informed about the latest happenings and discussions within our citizen science community? Well… I believe the Citizen science lighthouse newsletter arrives at the perfect moment to address this issue!
During the initial year of the European Citizen Science (ECS) project, we united various citizen science initiatives under the umbrella of the ECS Collaboration Group. This group consists of more than 45 diverse initiatives, encompassing both large-and small-scale projects, and operating across different regions of the world. What truly resonates with me is the heartfelt dedication of the individuals leading these initiatives. They are genuinely passionate and work with dedication in the field of citizen science, addressing a wide array of topics that have a profound impact on our society, environment, and health.
During our online monthly meetings, the ECS Collaboration Group explores citizen science topics like impact assessment, inclusivity, education and sustainability. As a result, we are launching this newsletter filled with items that delve into these important subjects. The newsletter will provide valuable insights and lessons derived from project experiences. Members of the group will share here valuable insights, challenges, achievements, forthcoming events, and potential opportunities.
I imagine this newsletter serving as a guiding lighthouse, illuminating the expansive realm of citizen science in Europe and helping us navigate through it. Its purpose is to facilitate experience sharing, and foster connections among everyone involved in citizen science.
