D-NOSES Project Update
It is a sad fact that the populations that need intervention the most, tend to be the most difficult reach and help. In creating the International Odour Observatory, the D-NOSES project is working to fill up the gap in odour governance across the globe and not just Europe. There is a pilot already underway in Chile to protect a small rural community from persistent waste management odours from surrounding installations. This has had many implications on the design of the pilot, including a more low-tech approach and simplified communication. Just now, our partner Mapping for Change is planning the first event for a new pilot in Kampala, Uganda, ready to push the inclusivity envelope even further. The kick-off for Kampala NOSES will feature the “Effective Local Action on Odour for Kampala” conference and follow up with science education activities in 10 schools around the city.
